2018 batting leaders

Marietta thrashed Vancouver 14-1 in the regular season finale in a game that didn't matter all of that much because the Mighty Men had already locked up the No. 5 seed and the Iron Fist had all but sewn up the No. 3 seed.

But the game also featured match-up of DMBL home run leaders, with Vancouver's J.D Martinez trailing Marietta's Giancarlo Stanton by one homer, 58 to 57. When Martinez slammed a solo homer in the 1st inning, he tied Stanton for the league lead, plus gave Vancouver a 1-0 lead.

Over the next several innings, the Mighty Men poured 12 runs across the plate but Stanton had only doubled and scored a run in four at-bats. Just when it looked like maybe there would be co-home run champions for 2018, Stanton stepped to the plate with a man on and two outs in the 7th inning. That's when the Mitchell Award contender, who had a more substantial lead in the RBI race, sent Sean Doolittle's pitch deep to left for his 59th home run, eliciting some excitement from the crowd that was still around for the 14-1 blowout.

It's the second time in three seasons that Stanton led the league in home runs and RBIs when he slammed 60 dongs with 138 RBIs for Allentown en route to winning the Mitchell Award.

Here's a look at the final league batting leaders for the 2018 season, followed by the runners-up. Asterisk denotes a rookie, italics a new league record:
