DMBL Divisional Realignment

It's been three years since DMBL last realigned its divisions. Of course that was the season when we had a mass exodus and five teams left at once. This year, we don't have any of that kind of excitement (fortunately!).

It was intended that every three years we would realign the divisions to keep competitive balance. A formula was used, averaging out each team's three-year win percentage and then assigning teams in a snake-like method to each division. This year, on the suggestion of Tucson Scorpions (now the Kingsnakes) owner Jason Malfait, the new divisions were determined by a quick draft. The four teams that would do the drafting were determined using the three-year win percentage method. The drafting teams were, in order, Tucson, San Francisco, Livingston, and Allentown. The results are as follows:

The Roberto Clemente Division
Tucson Kingsnakes
Empire City Trojans
Blue Ridge Bombers
Arkansas Golden Falcons

The Barry Bonds Division
The San Francisco Experience
Philadlephia Green Rage
Hoboken Cutters
Hopatcong Floating Fish

The Mike Piazza Division
Livingston Lords of the Swing
Matthew's Mighty Men of Marietta
Hillsborough Hired Hitmen
Sardine City Straphangers

The Keith Hernandez Division
Allentown Mules
Poovey Farms Dairy Cows
El Paso Chihuahuas
Vancouver Iron Fist

In memoriam: Yordano Ventura, Andy Marte

The baseball world, and by extension the DMBL world, lost two players last month to tragic car accidents in the Dominican Republic: Yordano Ventura, who was just 25, and 33-year-old Andy Marte, who was drafted as a budding prospect in the mid-2000s but never made the DMBL.
