2019 batting leaders

The battling title came down to the final weekend of the season, Allentown got another monster season out of Mike Trout plus rookie Max Muncy and Manny Machado, and two batters reached the 50-homer mark.

It took a 10th-inning single in the final game of the season (a 4-3 loss to Livingston) for J.D. Martinez of Vancouver to finally hold off Jose Altuve for the batting crown. Altuve, who lost out on the 2015 batting title in the final weekend, went 3-for-4 in Tucson's finale, 7-6 win over Philly.

Without Martinez's final single, the batting crown would have been shared at .318 (.3180 for Martinez, .3178 for Altuve). Both led the league in hits. It's the lowest batting average for a batting champ since 2016 when Buster Posey hit .314 for Arkansas.
