Micro Conference: Outfield

Listen, if you're going to vote for  Micro Conference OF ASG starters, you really can't argue with three straight the long way. The downside is that the ballot only offers 3 choices.

The 10 teams in the Micro Conference are Allentown, Blue Ridge, El Paso, Erie, Hillsborough, Livingston, Marietta, Philly, Poovey Farms, Rockland.

Philly's Bryce Harper is arguably the front-runner not just for the ASG but for the Kevin Mitchell Award as the league's best batter. I won't even bother rattling off the categories he leads or is tied for the league lead. Just check it out. Spoiler alert: It's absolutely absurd.

You can't go wrong with Hillsborough CF Byron Buxton either. He's also SLG over .600, playing CF, and is in the top 10 in a slew of other batting categories. He has a huge lead in doubles (41-29) and may challenge Jose Ramirez's league record 85 two-baggers.

Then there's former World Series MVP Juan Soto of Livingston. Dude is outrageous considering he's years old. He leads the entire league in OBP (.440), runs (68, OK, tied), BB (74, again, tied). He ranks 2nd in RC/27 behind Harper at 8.8 and 3rd RC (77.7), trailing teammate Vlad Jr. (80.5) and Harper (94.7). He's No. 1 in K/BB ratio (0.9) and tied for 2nd in plate appearances (405).

But, if you're looking to be contrarian -- and there's nothing wrong with that -- there's no shortage of other candidates in the Micro Conference. Marietta's Bryan Reynolds has put up a monster year, not only as an OF but CF. He leads the Might Men in most categories, including 19 HR, 51 R, 50 RBI all top the Marietta lineup. In addition to an incredibly sexy slash line of 290/.379/.545, Reynolds has all 5 of the Mighty Men's IW this season, on a squad with the 3rd highest scoring offense in the league at 4.8 runs per game.'

Another bat in Marietta who may fly under the radar is Jesse Winker. His 8.1/RC 27 is best in the league for those not named Harper, Soto, Guerrero, or Buxton. His OPS of .958 also ranks 5th in DMBL in 60 starts in the first half.

A sneaky sleeper, for those looking to get an ASG representation from all 20 teams, is Rockland's Manuel Margot. His recent line of 13-45-39 (HR-R-RBI) may not pop like others but he's enjoyed a stellar .313/.364/.521 slash line + he's 9-of-10 on steal attempts. Consider that his 7.6 RC/27 recently ranked 7th in the entire league, ahead of Brandon Lowe and behind Reynolds. And he's doing it as RKR has the weakest lineup in the league, averaging 3.6 runs per game.

Allentown also isn't having a great season but OF Kyle Tucker sure is. That mother-lover has quietly slipped into the top 10 in extra base hits (46, 4th), total bases (188, T6th), On top of. the batting stats, he's 8-for-8 on SB. Who steals bases anymore?!? On top of that, Allentown ain't going anywhere this season, in case you're looking for a Mule to fill out your ASG ballot.
