If you're a designated hitter in the Micro Conference not named Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., and you're being honest with yourself, you're probably aiming to be a reserve.
The 10 teams in the Micro Conference are Allentown, Blue Ridge, El Paso, Erie, Hillsborough, Livingston, Marietta, Philly, Poovey Farms, Rockland.
The Livingston slugger has put together a breakout superstar first half of 2022, putting him squarely in the discussion for the Kevin Mitchell Award along with Philly's Bryce Harper. Vlad, Jr. leads the DMBL in the sexiest of categories -- HR, 33 -- having caught and passed Brandon Lowe, but also in a plethora of other power categories: RBI (78), SLG (.640), total bases (222) and AB/HR (10.5). But he's also in the top 3 in batting (.323), OBP (.396), RC (80.5), RC/27 (8.4), total average (1.043), OPS (1.036). About the only drawback for Guerrero is that he he's hit a mere 11 doubles but also leads the league in ground ball DP (21).And really, that's about it. There are a few other batters who are close in certain categories, like Blue Ridge's Bo Bichette, who also has 97 hits, only a few behind Guerrero, to go with 15 HR, 51 R and 43 RBI. But Bichette is actually 2nd among the group in RC and RC/27 but is light years behind Guerrero at 48.4 and 5.2, respectively. In any other year, Shohei Ohtani of Poovey Farms might challenge for a starting spot with his 18 HR, 520 SLG and 6.1 RC/27 plus the novelty of being a two-way player. Hillsborough's Pete Alonso, who's also seen action in 15 games at 1B, has 15 dongs at the halfway point but his other stats leave much to be desired.
