Jedd Gyorko clubbed San Francisco for three home runs, including a grand slam, driving in 8 runs Friday night to lead a 16-hit attack by Livingston.
It's the second three-home run game in the league this season after Pedro Alvarez's trio on Sunday. and continues a hot week for hitting after Yangervis Solarte hit for the cycle on Thursday. The 8 RBI are a season-high in the league.
Batting
8th, Gyorko first went deep in the 4th with a grand slam, putting the
Lords of Swing up 7-6 and sending San Fran starter Matt Shoemaker to the showers. His solo shot in the 8th was a back-to-back affair,
following up a 2-run blast by Wilson Contreras, off Francisco Rodriguez. A two-out, three-run homer in the 9th off Fernando Rodriguez was insurance, making the final score 13-8.
Gyorko finished 3-5 with 8 RBI and 3 runs scored. The offensive outburst put the 2B into
the league lead in home runs (10) just ahead of David Ortiz (9), as well
as slugging (.712), and a 3-way tie for 2nd in RBI (21).
A 4th-round pick this year (50th overall), Gyorko came over to Livingston from Empire City just before the regular season in exchange for prospect Dansby Swanson.
